Many people suffer from low back pain of varying levels and usually don’t take measures to resolve or work on it until the pain becomes debilitating on some level to where it becomes limiting in day to day activities.
There is also a common theme in today’s society where people feel going online and doing just a few minutes researching a topic; all of the sudden have gained enough knowledge about a that topic to be able to treat it. These are things that take an intimate understanding of regarding a very detailed and specific set of impairments and restrictions from pain and mechanical imbalances that take years of studying combined with testing of professional peers to confirm competency with to effectively and safely treat.
As people in society age, there is a greater need to increase our “core” strength, to stabilize our low back to prevent continued pain and future injury. Having radicular symptoms is a common side effect of:
- degenerative disc disease
- spinal stenosis
- osteoarthritis
or a handful of other diagnoses regarding back issues treated in physical therapy.
In PT, we will educate people on multiple areas to help empower people to resolve and prevent future issues. Manual Therapy is used to improve joint and tissue mobility to help better mobility for increased tolerance with day to day activities having less pain and limiting factors with a huge focus on increasing the “Core” muscles strength and flexibility so a person does not need or feel the need to wear a back brace for support and has the confidence to go forward with the proper tools in the toolbox trained with medical professionals.
