Winter Injuries: LSTC Treats Concussions and Cervical Pain

While winter in Virginia can mean snow, sun, ice and rain all in the same week, between slick road conditions and heavy traffic, winter injuries like concussions and cervical pain can be more frequent. Many people suffer from chronic neck pain, tightness and headaches. However, few seek the attention they need to address the root of the problem and instead mask the pain with Advil and Tylenol. Cervical pain can start for a number of reasons like poor posture, stress, falls and even car crashes.

It’s time for our January’s installment of LSTC’s Fall into Winter Fitness Challenge! This is our Snowed-in Winter Workout to help you melt away those cold weather calories. When it’s too icy to head to the gym, don’t let the blustery winter weather keep you from staying active. There are plenty of exercises you can do without leaving home. Believe it or not, you’ll burn more calories with an explosive plyometrics workout thank you would with expensive gym equipment.

LSTC has some alternate office hours over the next two weeks due to the holidays. Please make note of these:
On Christmas Eve, we will close at 12:30pm.
WE ARE CLOSED FRIDAY, 12/25 FOR CHRISTMAS DAY!
We have regular office hours Monday, 12/28 and Tuesday 12/29.
Wednesday, 12/30 LSTC will be open from 10:30 to 7pm.
On New Year’s Eve we are open from 6:30am to 2:30pm.

Did you know you can help relieve pain with better balance! When we think of poor balance, we typically think of seniors using canes or walkers to get around, because they may fall. However, poor balance is actually a big contributor to sports injuries, common backaches, neck pain, and headaches in younger people too. In order to walk on two feet, adapt to bumpy surfaces like grass, quickly run, turn, recover from a trip and more, we need a finely tuned balance system at all stages of life.
