When Washing Our Hair is Uncomfortable…
Shoulder discomfort such as, general tightness, achiness, sharp pain with specific movements, or inability to lift the weight of our arm comfortably or at all may limit our ability to do everyday things. We may have trouble doing things such as reach an overhead shelf, wash our hair, reach behind our back to tuck in our shirt, or even lift something simple like a grocery bag or throw a ball at practice. The shoulder is a complex region of the body made up of three joints, four muscles of the rotator cuff (a group of muscles and tendons that surround the shoulder joint that keeps the head of your upper arm bone firmly within the shallow socket of the shoulder) and over 10 other muscles that attach around the bones/joints that make up the shoulder.

Minor inflammation or minor tears can become worsened if aggravating factors are not addressed and prevent you from playing tennis, reaching that plate from the upper cabinet or scratching that itch in the middle of your back. The sooner treatment is initiated, the better.
Shoulder: Most Common Cause of Discomfort
Shoulder injuries are one of the most common injuries. Most shoulder discomfort or pain is caused from an injury itself or from overuse. Some of the most common ailments related to the shoulder include tight/overworked muscles, tendonitis, impingement, and joint stiffness. These not only may cause pain, it may also cause weakness, and limit your ability to drive, prepare your evening dinners, reach into your overhead cabinets and other everyday activities.

- Traumatic injury/dislocation
- Weak muscles
- Repetitive movement
- Poor shoulder mechanics
