What’s Causing Your Hip Discomfort?
Hip problems make daily activities such as sleeping or lying in certain positions, walking, climbing stairs, standing up from a seated position, bending your leg in towards your chest (as when dressing, cutting your toe nails, or washing/drying your feet), running, squatting and standing difficult and painful. Most hip problems are the result of repetitive movements we do on a daily basis. Because this joint is necessary for weight bearing activities, it can be a source of pain among all ages. The hip joint is one of the most stable joints in the body, however, that does not keep this joint and region of the body from developing issues and producing pain. There are multiple structures in and around our hips that can produce pain in this area of the body which can keep us from being able to:
- Tie our shoes
- Shave our legs
- Cook the evening meal
In addition to pain, you may also experience:
- Snapping
- Clicking
- Weakness
- Difficulty walking
- Difficulty standing up or sitting down
- Radiating numbness and tingling
- Symptoms that seem to constantly change location in the upper leg.

Hip problems make daily activities like simply walking, standing and bathing difficult and painful. Hip pain is often felt in the groin or on the outside of the hip directly where the joint is located.
Causes:
Most of the common causes of hip pain are due to wear and tear and overuse. This means that most hip problems are the result of repetitive movements we do on a daily basis.
