Proper Preparation is Key to Avoiding Injuries
Nowadays, free-time activities can look a little different for kids as various technologies are at our fingertips. If you’re a student athlete who participates in sports year-round, you might maintain a higher level of physical activity. Overall though, the general lack of physical activity, means fitness levels decrease significantly and therefore the return to sports is more difficult. It’s all the more reason why proper preparation is key.
When returning to any sport, it’s important to treat your body appropriately, with care and attention.
Trouble Walking the Dog or to the Mailbox because of Foot Pain…

When is the last time you could walk the dog, go shopping, take your kids to the amusement park, go for a run, or even just stand for prolonged periods of time without experiencing nagging foot or ankle pain? Have you ever gotten up in the morning and felt pain in your heel when you put your foot down on the floor? You’re probably wondering why your foot would hurt after you’ve been off your feet and sleeping all night.
Common Knee Conditions and How PT Can Help
In general, knee pain and common knee conditions occur due to muscular imbalances, how well your kneecap moves and abnormal kneecap tracking.
Two common knee conditions we treat at Loudoun Sports Therapy Center are ACL tears and subsequent repairs as well as quad tendon tears and subsequent repairs.
What is the ACL? The ACL is made up of dense fibrous connective tissue that supports the front of the knee joint.
Flip Flops or ‘Flip Nots’
It’s 90 degrees outside, the suns is beaming and you’re ready to head out and enjoy the day. As you’re heading out the door though, you’re faced with a dilemma: sneakers or flip flops? Of course, you want to choose your flip flops. They keep your feet cool, you can put them on and take them off quickly and let’s be honest, they’re just plain comfortable! However, along with that comfort comes some structural sacrifices.
